i like the style of Michael Robbert Williams who is a photographer to famous people his use of shadows and high impact lights creates a high definition and deep picture. the models attitudes is the element i tried to recreate, as opposing to casual smiling the models in question are simon looking in there faces to create a more interesting atmosphere.
i use either one or two lights in the studio to create the shadows i require set at 45 degree angles form the models face i then enhance the photos in photoshop to recreate the high quality of a studio.
i prefer to work in black and white as i believe it creates an interesting atmosphere here are some examples of, Michael Robberts work.

Tyler Freeman Smith "The Great Race" in depth
The series of images i have chosen by this photographer are titled "Day at the great race" it documents an iconic race in australia known as the Bathurst 1000, however the images show none of the actual race itself and instead show the spectators and there reactions to the day. The images are both in landscape and portrait formats, some of the portraits of people are shot in landscape and landscapes in portrait format to capture the full atmosphere of what is going on in the frame. The images are shot in Black and White this is stereotypical of documentary photography to create atmosphere however in my opinion this only works well in some images to create a bleak or cold appearance but fails other images where the colour of items such as supporter flags and the surrounding area. All the images focus mainly on people surrounding the race as opposed to the action happening on the track, however from the appearance of the supporters it is clear to tell what is happening, for example the picture of a man sat wrapped in a blanket staring blankly at the track shows that there is no action happening an that this was taken early in the morning before the race had even begun. In contrast the image of the supporters pointing at the track with jovial smiles and proudly holding their flag in the air shows that the team they are supporting have just overtaken a rival or even winning. The final image i have chosen shows numerous people walking along the race track holding a giant banner this clearly shows that the team they are supporting has won the race. This approach to the images gives the viewer an open mind to recreate the events from the race in the minds eye making it somehow more exiting and personal. The images are sequenced throughout the day from early morning with spectators arriving at the track to a group of fans walking what appears to be a victory lap. The first images in the sequence shows a very powerful scence of expectation and augments to a finale of success. The information on what these images were produced for seems to be vague but i believe they were taken for a magazine article reflecting on the fierce rivalry between Ford and Holden fans in this iconic traditional race. The photographer reflects on this through the series and shows that no matter who wins everybody is proud of the winner.
Documentary Photography Tyler Freeman Smith
Tyler Freeman Smith is an Australian freelance photographer who as well as documenting struggles in life likes to show the positives too. Working mostly in Black and white Tyler captures peoples reactions to an event as opposed to the event its self. In these pictures I have chosen here from the series titled "Day of the great race" Tyler has not actually photographed any of the cars or race action, simply the spectators to capture the atmosphere of the race, The series starts early in the morning and follows the day through to the end showing the arrival, enjoyment and departure of spectators.
Documentary Photography Morgan Hagar
Photographer Morgan Hagar was born in Goleta, California in 1975 and grew up outside Houston, Texas. He returned to California to study at Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara and was the first to graduate from the renowned Visual Journalism program. While in school he held a staff photographer position at the Santa Barbara News-Press and shortly after graduating became Photo Editor at the Ventura County Reporter. In 2004 he moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of reporting on conflicts within humanity.
Much of his work consists of personal projects. He has documented issues in Israel, Thailand, Nicaragua, Mexico, and across the United States. His self-funded projects have garnered praise internationally and have been featured in various print and online publications. In 2006, he was selected to be part of World Picture News 2006 Best Images of the Year. In 2007, he won first place in the Photojournalism-Other category from Prix de Photographie Paris.
I like his work because even tho he is documenting serious conflict areas and life struggles he somehow makes them look beautiful by taking the shot in an artistic manor as demonstrated in these pictures i have chosen from his series titled "The Wall"

Documentary Photography Skippy Sanchez
Skippy Sanchez is a Newspaper and journalistic photographer who lives in the mid-west region of the USA, Working under diferent aliases since 1981 he has documented events in Latin America about labor, Christian Mission Organizations religious festivals and various celebrations. Skippy is a member of Christians in Photojournalism who actively document and report on christian activities across the world in a modern way, His style varies from shoot to shoot sometimes in colour sometimes in black an white as well as the subject sometimes aware the shot is being taken and other times not. These examples are from a series titled "i'll take the train" I like these pictures because for me it captures the atmosphere of a long journey, first boarding the train, the pocket watch of the conductor to ensure everything is on time and the child wide awake as everybody else sleeps.

Tilt Shift Photography
Tilt-shift photography refers to the use of camera movement on small- and medium-format cameras, and sometimes specifically refers to the use of tilt for selective focus, often for simulating a miniature scene. Sometimes the term is used when the shallow depth of field is simulated with digital post processing.

Macro Project
We were set the task to pick a method of photography in the past lessons and asked to reproduce some photographs of our own choosing. I have chosen to keep a theme in my photographs of stationary. I placed the subjects on plain paper in-keeping with the theme and tried to vary the light as much as possible. On some of the pictures I used a strong directional light and on others an ambient table lamp to create both sharp and soft shadows. I used Photoshop and Lightroom to edit the pictures.

Street Photogrpahy
Street Photography is going out around a location and taking pictures of people bout there daily business. There are two types of street photography, Observational and interactive here are some examples of both.
Studio Photography
In the studio we learn how to set up and use various equipment ranging from a simple tripod to lighting rigs and flash triggers. In a studio the photographer can manipulate the light as he or she requires to achieve different results, e.g high key, low key or use backdrops to give the appearance of a location shoot.
